I was raised in Menan, Idaho, where my grandfather farmed. I am a 6th Generation Idahoan and this farm was homesteaded by my ancestors. We had cattle, pigs, sheep, horses, and wheat. My dad was a farmhand and instilled a strong work ethic in me that comes from working on a farm. My dad worked many jobs in his life after my grandfather sold the farm. My mom was a registered nurse. We really didn’t have much when I was growing up but I didn’t know any better. Hunting and fishing were normal activities in the 70s. Sports came easy for me and played baseball, softball, soccer, track, football, and basketball. I was QB on the football team and we won state in basketball back to back in 77 and 78. Many coaches helped me to be a team player. I graduated from Rigby High, BYU-I and ISU in Business. I served a church mission to Argentina and married my high school sweetheart. I worked at a bank for a year and then started in the life and health insurance business in 1986. I then attended the American College for advanced degrees in Insurance and Financial Consulting and was licensed in securities. I served as the past president of the Idaho Insurance and Financial Advisors and Idaho Falls Estate Planning Professionals. 4 years ago I was elected to the Idaho House of Representatives where I serve on many committees and have the opportunity to pass over 40 bills pertaining mostly to business. I have 5 children and 11 grandchildren. It’s been a wonderful ride.
